About

I build software, and I keep it running.

Information Systems Specialist, DevOps Engineer, and System Administrator in Kibuye, Kampala. I work with ToughBlue and with clients who need software that is useful, secure, and easy to maintain.

I’m Kabengwa Mark Patrick. I live and work in Kibuye, Kampala, Uganda. Most days sit between product thinking and operations: gathering requirements, designing and shipping applications, integrating APIs, administering Windows and Linux environments, and writing documentation so the team can keep going.

I studied Information Systems at Makerere University (2013 to 2016). Soon after, I joined ToughBlue Uganda, where I still work as Information Systems Specialist, DevOps Engineer, and System Administrator. I design solutions for medium and small enterprises, support technical operations, and help supervise delivery.

Over the years I’ve used many languages and platforms: Java and Spring Boot, PHP, JavaScript, Python, MySQL and PostgreSQL, WordPress and other CMS stacks, Docker, Git, and VMware. The tools change. The habit does not: listen carefully, deliver clearly, and keep improving.

Approach

Work ethic that shows up in the details.

Three pillars that set me apart and keep me true to the work.

Creative

“Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes, and having fun.” (Mary Lou Cook). That quote has guided my professional life. I try to give clients the best product I can, and to outdo my previous work every time. Fear of risk should not stop creativity. Growth needs the extra mile.

Motivated

I am self-driven, able to work in new environments, and open to learning. Work has never been about what the developer wants. It is about what the client needs for the purpose. When needed, I work under pressure to meet the goal on time and with quality. I am a time manager, result-oriented, and grounded in faith.

Punctual

Punctuality is one of the hardest challenges in our profession. Strong, agile teams that share the work make delivery faster and safer. That experience has taught me the most important part of client satisfaction: producing better than expected, at the expected time.
